Healthcare

Medical Assistant

Medical Assistants perform administrative and clinical tasks in support of doctors, nurses, and other health professionals in a variety of allied health settings, such as clinics, doctor’s offices, and community health facilities. Students build a foundation in office administration, anatomy & physiology, and clinical skills and graduate with all the skills they need to find work fast.

Nurse Assistant and Home Health Aide

Nursing assistants help with the basic care and support of patients under the direction of licensed nursing staff. They perform duties such as monitoring of health status, feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, or ambulation of patients in a health or nursing facility.

The 15-week Nurse Assistant course gives students a basic understanding of nursing care and prepares them to take and pass the national Nurse Assistant certification examination. Instruction includes both classroom and clinical training with an emphasis on the philosophy of nursing, patient care procedures, safety, infection control, rehabilitative patient care, and communication within the healthcare team.

Successful graduates may expand their job prospects by completing the 3-week Home Health Aide course which prepares Certified Nurse Assistants to become Certified Home Health Aides. This course prepares students to function as an entry-level worker on a health care team in a home health agency.

Phlebotomy Technician I

Our Phlebotomy Technician programs prepare graduates for entry-level positions as Phlebotomy Technicians in hospitals, clinics, laboratory service centers physician offices, and other healthcare settings where they specialize in drawing blood for tests, transfusions, research, and blood donations.

Upon successful completion, students will have met all of California State’s requirements to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I, including the completion of an approved national online examination.

Vocational Nurse

Licensed vocational nurses provide basic nursing care to patients in a variety of healthcare settings, such as nursing homes and extended care facilities, hospitals, physicians’ offices, and private homes.

Instruction includes both classroom and clinical training with an emphasis on the nursing process and its relationship to patient care procedures, infection control, and medication administration. Students receive clinical training in health care facilities and upon successful completion are prepared to successfully take the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians licensure exam.

Medical Coding & Billing

Medical coders and billers support the exchange of information between insurance companies, health care providers, and patients. Medical coders transcribe a patient visit into a series of universally recognized codes that tell exactly what happened during a patient visit. Medical billers take those codes and submit them to insurance companies for payment.

Students learn the coding and billing process and are introduced to the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), a global diagnostic tool used in a variety of healthcare settings. Students also learn how to use Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes and the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) which apply to services provided by physicians and other medical providers.

COVID Sanitation and Sterilization EKG Technician

This 48-hour Online EKG Technician Program prepares students to obtain employment as an Electrocardiograph (EKG/ECG) Technician. The EKG Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic tests to assess the heart rhythm and rate in patients. EKGs are also performed before and after operations, during physical examinations of patients, for patients with a history of heart disease, when patients are experiencing chest pains and when the ordering physician deems it necessary. Pharmacy Technician

This self-paced, online career training course, teaches the skills and procedures commonly performed by pharmacy technicians in hospitals, retail pharmacies and pharmacy laboratories, including how to perform pharmaceutical calculation, prescription processing, drug labeling and dispensing over-the-counter pharmaceuticals. Upon completion of the online coursework, students will complete an internship at a local pharmacy.

The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3® ) provides students and job-seekers with the foundation of knowledge they need to succeed in environments that require the use of computers and the Internet. It is an internationally recognized standard for digital literacy and reflects the most relevant skills needed in today's academic and business environments. It is woven into two of the Technology pathways, or can be taken as a standalone.

Manufacturing/ Construction/ Engineering

Truck Driving

Put your career in the fast lane by getting the skills you need to pass the Class A truck driver licensing test! Truck drivers are in-demand! This course gives students the practical skills they need to drive trucks as well as delivery, for-hire, and commercial vehicles. Upon completion students receive a certificate and have all the knowledge they need to take and pass the California Department of Motor Vehicles Class A truck driver licensing test.

Computer Aided Drafting

Introduction to Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) & Design with SolidWorks is a 38-week, 400-hour course designed for aspiring and currently employed technical/CAD drafters, preparing students for the Certified Solid Works Associate (CSWA) certification exam, as well as students interested in exploring the world of computer-aided drafting/design.

The course provides comprehensive training for new users and students with little or no previous CAD experience in the fundamentals of Solidworks 3D parametric CAD software for creating parts and assemblies. The course includes the theoretical training and practical skills aspiring technical drafters need to enter today’s competitive job market and start their careers in 3D design and fabrication fields such as architecture, engineering and construction (AEC), and manufacturing.

FORKLIFT/PALLET JACK OPERATOR (16 Hours)

This course provides classroom instruction and hands on driving experience on sit down/ stand up forklifts and pallet jacks used by entry level equipment operators. The drill-based course allows the new operator to develop skills for independent equipment operation. Upon successful completion of the course participants receive 3-year certification allowing for entry-level employment.

Security Guard

Secure your future by learning how to keep people and places safe! Get your license with just one course!

Whether they’re guarding property or keeping a watchful eye at an event, security guards make everyone feel safer. Security Guard students learn about the penal code, firearms, baton, first aid/CPR, hazmat procedures, pepper spray and weaponless defense. Upon completion, students are ready to take the California state certification test and get to work!
